SEC budget increase first foretold in March is now becoming a reality in a new world of inter-connected derivatives risk exposure

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is expected to get an increase in its budget that is nearly equal to the entire budget of their fellow regulator, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

The SEC will see funding rise by nearly $200 million in the Obama administration’s forthcoming $1.7 billion budget proposal, Andrew Ackerman is reporting in The Wall Street Journal. The current budget for the entire operation of regulator CFTC, which in part supervises unregulated derivatives, is $280 million.
