Andarko Petroleum Corporation (NYSE:APC) reported a rise in its earnings per share in the first quarter owing to a hike in the price of crude oil. The company earned $4.28 per share in the first quarter compared with 2011's earnings of 43 cents per share. Total net income rose to $1.26 billion from last year's $216 million.
