At the 2025 Delivering Alpha Conference, CNBC events contributor Michelle Caruso-Cabrera moderated a panel with Corient Partner and Head of Portfolio Construction Andy Kapyrin and Corient Associate Partner, Alternatives, Mary Elizabeth Guidry. Corient is a US based RIA/Wealth Management firm (owned by Mubadala Capital) with over $220B AUM. The session examined the market impact of President Trump’s recent executive order titled “democratizing access to alternative assets for 401k investors.” Kapyrin and Guidry argued that the order pushes plan fiduciaries to move beyond cost as the sole criterion for investment selection and that access to private markets is increasingly necessary to achieve proper diversification in defined contribution plans.
