In a letter titled "Going Quiet and Reflecting on Life," Warren Buffett announced major changes regarding his personal involvement with Berkshire Hathaway, detailed the acceleration of his philanthropic commitments, and offered deep reflections on his life, luck, and the influence of Omaha, Nebraska.
The farewell letter was issued to shareholders of Berkshire Hathaway on November 10th 2025. Buffett informed shareholders that he is "going quiet," meaning he will no longer be writing Berkshire’s annual report or talking endlessly at the annual meeting. This transition coincides with the confirmation of a major leadership handover: Greg Abel will become the boss (CEO) at year-end. Buffett praised for Abel, calling him a great manager, a tireless worker, and an honest communicator, and noted that Abel has more than met his high expectations for Berkshire’s next CEO.
