Chris Hansen, President and Founding Partner of Valiant Capital Management, presented at the 2025 Sohn San Francisco Conference, sharing his best idea which assumes a multi-decade investment cycle centered on the accelerating demand for power infrastructure. Hansen's thesis: while power demand growth, particularly accelerated by artificial intelligence, is undeniable, the immediate and long-term constraint is not the fuel source, but the constrained global capacity to engineer and construct new natural gas power generation facilities, creating a lucrative opportunity in a best-in-class Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) specialist.

Chris Hansen co-founded Valiant Capital Management 17 years ago in San Francisco; the global long/short public and private equity firm currently manages approximately $3 billion in assets. Valiant operates with a flexible mandate designed to generate superior long-term, risk adjusted returns by allowing its team to search the world for the best opportunities. Hansen’s extensive prior experience includes serving as a partner at Blue Ridge Capital LP from 2001 until January 2008. Before his time at Blue Ridge, Hansen was a Principal and Senior Equity Research analyst at Banc of America Securities, covering the Advertising Sector. The investment thesis presented, focused on power infrastructure, represents one of the largest positions for the Valiant fund within this specific sector. Hansen also noted that for those who do not know, he is one of the original short sellers and one of the very few left these days.
