Garrett Thornburg the founder of Thornburg Investment Management with about $40 billion in AUM is also the founder of Thornburg Foundation. While the fund has operated since 1982 the foundation was incepted in 1999.
The foundation primarily supports community-servin goals, including investing in public education, government reform, sustainable agriculture, and water sources.
From the foundation's latest 990 form from November 2024 it reported expenses of $7.5 million, net income of $5.4 million, and net assets of $147 million. Total revenue for 2023 was $12.9 million.
