Jonathon Jacobson’s investment career was marked by success in big-name firms including Shearson Lehman Brothers, and Merrill Lynch which were the breeding grounds for later independent success.
In 1998 he founded Highfields Capital Management, a Boston-based alternative investment firm. At its core, it was a value-oriented firm that had a highly diverse approach to investing. Managers choose a wide array of asset classes, combined with a global investment reach.
In 2018 Jacobson announced that Highfields Capital Management will wind down its operations, before shutting down entirely in 2021. From there on, Jacobson with his wife Joanna focused on managing their One8 Foundation.
