This U.K. Fund Identified A Pair Of Potential Anti-Momentum Short Candidates

Kernow Asset Management returned 1.2% for February following a blockbuster 6.8% return for January, bringing its year-to-date return to 8% for 2023. The Barclays Equity Long-Short Index is up 1.2% for the first two months of the year.

Since its inception in November 2019, Kernow is up 45.8%, compared to the prevailing U.K. equity market Comparator, which is up 20% over the same timeframe.

“Dash For Trash”

In their February letter to investors, which was obtained by Hedge Fund Alpha, the Kernow team said February started with "two days of deja-vu." Dovish commentary from the Federal Reserve depressed the risk premium of junk stocks, which responded by rallying.
