Many of the best-known hedge fund managers in the U.S. also dabble in philanthropy through their own foundations. Bill Ackman is one of them through his Pershing Square Foundation, and we can get an idea for some of his hedge funds by looking at where his foundation invests its money.

Funds owned by Pershing Square Foundation

Unsurprisingly, Pershing Square Foundation invests in Pershing Square International. According to the foundation's 990-PF for the period ending September 2018, the foundation redeemed some of those shares in January 2018 after acquiring them in January 2015.

Pershing Square Foundation also invested in Clearfield Offshore Fund in 2018, and it redeemed some of those shares in January and July 2018 after acquiring them in May 2015. The...
