Artificial intelligence, big data, and machine learning are the hot keywords in today’s investment landscape. But in reality, only a small group of elite professionals are adept at these skills, Goldman Sachs Managing Director and Portfolio Manager Osman Ali told the audience at the Morningstar Investment Conference. And this small group of people who are adept need to be constantly wary of their “edge” disappearing as their “secret sauce” becomes more widely known. Ali noted that the universe of professionals with a keen understanding of AI methods are, at present, too small to move markets, but that could change.
