“It is worth highlighting,” CLSA analyst Christopher Wood writes in the latest issue of his Greed & Fear research note, “that an interesting development occurred recently when the 10-year Australian government bond yield in late February declined below the US 10-year Treasury bond yield for the first time since 2000.” This development is interesting because it comes against a backdrop of rising leverage in Australia in an economy that’s highly dependent on the housing to generate growth.
