Removing, processing and recycling waste isn't a glamorous job, but it's an essential one. As the world's population continues to expand, the waste management industry is growing with it, and the vast majority of the world's population still do not have access to adequate waste management services.
According to Bank of America's latest quarterly Thematic Investing update, which highlights waste as one sector investors should keep an eye on, 3.5 billion people lack access to basic waste management services and the situation will only "get worse with waste volumes growing faster than urbanization rates and GDP growth." Indeed, research shows that global waste management industry volumes are set to double by 2025 vs. 2005 and then double again between 2025 and 2050.
