Oracle has settled charges filed by the Federal Trade Commission that it deceived consumers about the security provided by updates to its Java Platform, Standard Edition software (Java SE).
The FTC estimates that over 850 million PCs use Java SE, and during the update process, Oracle failed to inform consumers that the Java SE update didn’t uninstall any versions released prior to Java SE version 6, update 10.
